Facts About The National Alumni Council (NAC)

Today, the NAC is a UNCF sponsored organization of concerned graduates, current students and individuals who want to advance the cause of black higher education.

The NAC's mission is to:

  • Raise funds for UNCF's member colleges and universities.
  • Recruit students for UNCF member institutions.
  • Encourage cooperation among black alumni groups and friends of black higher education.
  • Provide a national forum for educational issues.
  • Stimulate public awareness and interest in UNCF colleges and universities.

The NAC membership is comprised of several constituent groups:

Inter-Alumni Councils (IAC) serve as the umbrella organization for all local UNCF alumni chapters located throughout the United States. The IAC's work in collaboration with UNCF's area offices to raise funds for UNCF and it's member colleges and universities and their students.

National Pre-Alumni Council (NPAC) serves as the umbrella organization and governing body for each Pre-Alumni Council (PAC) on UNCF member college campuses. The PAC encourages student participation in alumni activities prior to and after graduation. The PAC's raise funds for UNCF and the PAC that raises the most money per capita, wins the honor having their local Miss UNCF crowned Miss National UNCF.

National Alumni Associations (NAA) cultivate and build an alumni support base for their respective colleges and universities and help to coordinate alumni participation in NAC special events and activities.

Other national groups and other organizations that uphold the goals of UNCF and the NAC are eligible for membership in the NAC (i.e. fraternities and sororities).
