Illinois Students: ComED UIC Chance Scholarship Now Open

Illinois-based candidates must be enrolled as an entering first-time freshman within one of targeted STEM fields at any accredited four-year institution.

The ComEd UIC Chance Scholarship is a merit-based program initiative, designed to encourage Illinois residents to pursue a college education. Commonwealth Edison Company (ComEd) is the major energy delivery company within the state of Illinois. The selected recipients will receive scholarships up to $16,650 during the 2017-18 year. The selected recipients may be eligible for renewal scholarship up to three years if they continue to meet the program requirements. 

Eligibility Criteria

Qualifying candidates must meet these criteria:

  • Must be enrolled as an entering first-time freshman within one of the targeted STEM fields
  • Must attend an accredited four-year institution within the United States
  • The candidates must have successfully completed the UIC Chance Program
  • Must have permanent residence within one of these Illinois counties: Boone, Carroll, Cook, DeKalb, DuPage, Ford, Grundy, Henry, Iroquois, Jo Daviess, Kane, Kankakee, Kendall, Lake, LaSalle, Lee, Livingston, Marshall, McHenry, Ogle, Rock Island, Stephenson, Whiteside, Will, Winnebago and Woodford
