Job Description

The Development Services and Raiser’s Edge (RE) Manager will provide technical assistance in the areas of fundraising systems; solicitor/donor/prospect data entry; user support and training; reporting and data analysis; and database management. This position will ensure organizational effectiveness by ensuring that Development staff are following RE system strategies, policies and practices, as well as ensuring accurate donor/prospect tracking and reporting, and accurate designation of charitable contributions.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Will manage, administer and act as the Raiser’s Edge Database Administrator for Development; developing and implementing best practices and protocol
  • Function as a liaison between the Finance and Development offices to resolve problems and ensure collaboration utilizing established Development policies to credit gift receipts and required adjustments
  • Monitor solicitor/donor data stewardship, data integrity, quality control audits, updates, and security for the fundraising database
  • Produce or assist with the production of reports, including: Area Office Performance Reports; Income Projection reports; Raiser’s Edge financial data; Special Events reports; and other ad hoc reports as required
  • Forecast annual campaign progress using UNCF's current and historical trend data; analyze and interpret data to identify barriers to success issues and recommend appropriate methods for resolution
  • Collect data and analyze results of peer benchmarking studies on a variety of internal and external surveys relevant to UNCF fundraising practices and programs. Translate information into useful tools for development leadership to create new fundraising business strategies
  • Co-manage the relationship between Raiser’s Edge and UNCF’s online fundraising software, Luminate Online; running reports, ensuring the programs are syncing properly
  • Perform development data administration and management, querying the database, reporting and information retrieval, implementing a system to move donors and prospects
  • Maintain and audit gift entry protocol. Import, export and update constituent data
  • Create and run complex queries and exports for solicitations and engagement; using query and export to effectively segment and suppress appropriate donors based on coded characteristics
  • Collaborate with Finance office on gift and pledge reconciliation and reporting, monthly and at calendar and fiscal year end. Provides data and documentation needed for annual audit.
  • Collaborate with Finance and IT staff to maintain data and information flow across the organization
  • Create operational procedures and best practices documentation for effective training and dissemination within the organization
  • Oversee RE training and support for Development staff users
  • Proactively assist users in determining more efficient ways to utilize Raiser’s Edge and provide support to end users when errors and issues arise

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least five years experience in donor data management, with progressively responsible experience using RE; working knowledge of Convio
  • Demonstrated proficiency in use of Crystal Reports and MS Office

Other Skills

  • Knowledge of fundraising principles and practices including gift entry and administration,
  • Advanced query, appeals, export, and prospect module experience
  • Knowledge of the types of data, reports and analyses needed to support fundraising efforts of a large nonprofit; some higher education experience desired
  • Ability to explain highly technical concepts and processes to non-technical staff
  • Accuracy and high attention to detail
