Sandi Owens rejoined UNCF in 2014 focusing on independent and family foundations and the faith-based campaign in New York. Prior to her return, she served as director of corporate and foundation relations at Shared Interest, a nonprofit social investment fund benefitting low-income black South Africans. Her development career reflects her passion for expanding educational opportunities for underrepresented communities as director of corporations and foundations at A Better Chance and vice president for development and communications at National Medical Fellowships.
Owens’ previous positions at UNCF included fundraising roles at the national and regional levels. A lifelong Harlem resident, Owens is a warden at her church and emeritus board member of Early Steps. She received a bachelor of arts in English and psychology from Case Western Reserve University.
