Julie Marshall Gable is a native of Illinois, just south of Chicago, and has resided in New Orleans for over 30 years. Her previous marketing and development career was in health care. Prior to joining UNCF, she was the Community Development and Programs Manger at the Louisiana affiliate of the National Kidney Foundation (NKFL). During her 15 years of tenure at NKFL, Gable managed program services for over 9,300 patients living with kidney failure, educated Louisianans about the risk factors of the disease, managed the walks for a total net profit of over $300,000 and received over $500,000 in grant funds for preventive health programs.
Gable received her bachelors in speech communications/public relations from Illinois State University. Outside of her dedication to UNCF, she spends numerous hours in service to the Progressive Baptist Church, where she has served as first lady for over 28 years. She is married to Rev. Dr. Willie Gable, Jr. and has two sons, Joshua and Jeremiah.
