HBCUs Still Need Your Help! Funding on the Senate Floor Possibly Thursday!
HBCUs need your help. Please take 20 seconds of your time to write your U.S. Senators NOW to keep federal funding for historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) flowing.
Thanks to the help of many supporters like you, the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 2486 on Tuesday, Sept. 17, which provides $85 million a year to educate our HBCU students. Thursday, Sept. 19, the bill moves to the U.S. Senate with a looming deadline of Sept. 30. We have just 12 days left to urge Senators to pass the Mandatory Title III/SAFRA funding, which supports science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) programs at HBCUs and other minority-serving institutions across the United States.
Whether you’ve sent a letter already or not, please visit UNCF.org/protectingourfuture, and let the Senate know to we need them to pass H.R. 2486. It’s very simple:
- Go to UNCF.org/protectingourfuture
- Click on “Write your Senator”
- Fill out the blank fields and click “Next”
- Click “Submit.” The pre-written letter will be sent to both of your U.S. Senators. You will get an email from UNCF confirming your letters were delivered.
UNCF urges you to act today! Please let your family, friends and community know how important this issue is by posting and sharing our messages on social media:
Thank you for continuing to help save these important programs that lead to good-paying careers after our HBCU students graduate!
