Student Stories: Reid P. Moss

Reid P. Moss, Spelman College

“I am Reid P. Moss, a senior at Spelman College, majoring in sociology with a minor in comparative women’s studies. With the help of UNCF, I am working on my life’s goals. At Spelman, besides working hard on my degree, I use my membership in social service organizations to get real-life experience for my ultimate career.

“I serve as the president of the Pearls of Wisdom Alumnae Association, a social and character development program for young women. I am also a member of a student-run organization called Poetic Justice, whose goal is to promote and make social change available to African American youth by helping them find their voice through the arts. I am also an ambassador for Spelman Peace Corps.

“After college, I plan to attend graduate school for film and communications. I want to change the way women of color are portrayed in the media. I want to take this opportunity to thank you because without your help through a scholarship from UNCF, all this may not have been possible. On behalf of my parents, my family and all those who have helped and encouraged me along the way, please accept my heartfelt and sincere thanks for your support.”
