UNCF Encourages All on MLK Day to Contribute to the Ongoing Struggle for Justice and Opportunity in Our Society

Today, in commemoration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr’s 96th birthday, UNCF pauses to reflect on the life and legacy of the legendary civil rights leader on this special day in his honor known as MLK Day.

Dr. King’s contributions emphasizing the importance of education and equity for a just society have always been consistent with the mission and values of UNCF.

MLK Day serves as a powerful reminder of Dr. King’s enduring legacy and the profound impact he had on the civil rights movement.

This year’s theme “Mission Possible: Protecting Freedom, Justice, and Democracy in the Spirit of Nonviolence365” defines the 2025 King Holiday Observance events and programming while serving as a compass for all the work that remains to be done this year and beyond.

In recognition of this momentous occasion, various UNCF events and activities are being organized including discussions and educational programs that delve into Dr. King’s pivotal role in advocating for civil rights and social justice. These gatherings not only pay tribute to Dr. King’s remarkable achievements but also aim to galvanize individuals and communities towards continuing his mission of fostering equality and empowerment for all.

MLK Day is a time for reflection, inspiration and a call to action, and UNCF is encouraging everyone to contribute to the ongoing struggle for justice and opportunity in our society.
