UNCF Executive Vice President Dr. Walter Kimbrough featured in The Chronicle of Higher Education’s The Quarter-Century Project
What was the most consequential trend in the education sector since 2000?
The Chronicle of Higher Education posed this question to more than 50 higher education influencers. Among them was Dr. Walter M. Kimbrough, executive vice president, research and member engagement, UNCF.
Dr. Kimbrough said the most consequential trend was “the emergence of social media platforms like Facebook, which have empowered institutions to tell their own stories, lent virality to negative and positive news, and [has] given students and parents more power to challenge campus decision making.”
His comment appeared in the Dec. 10, 2025 issue of the Chronicle.
