FDPRI: We Tell Stories Behind the Data
At FDPRI, we illuminate the stories that give data its meaning. Every data point reflects a person, a place, or a possibility—shaped by history, policy, and lived experience. By centering the narratives of HBCU students, faculty, administrators, and alumni, we reveal not only what the data shows, but why it matters and whom it serves. Our work bridges quantitative evidence with the human experiences that drive trends, ensuring that research on HBCUs reflects both their impact and their enduring legacy.
While rooted in a deep commitment to Historically Black Colleges and Universities, our work extends far beyond any single sector. We conduct research that addresses national and global challenges in education, highlighting the systems, policies, and practices that shape opportunities for learners everywhere. As a forward-thinking research team, we pursue bold, evidencebased insights to anticipate emerging trends, break down unfair structures, and inform transformative solutions. Our mission is to expand global educational equity by advancing knowledge development, enabling educational institutions, policymakers, and communities to build a more just and inclusive future for all learners.

Our Institute is expanding its research agenda through a series of innovative projects and strategic collaborations designed to deepen our impact—especially within Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). In the months ahead, we are launching new studies, cross-sector initiatives, and community-engaged projects that advance equity-centered research and strengthen the capacity of HBCU institutions. We are also forging partnerships with HBCUs, universities, policy organizations, and philanthropic leaders to amplify our reach and accelerate the translation of research into practice. Together, these upcoming projects and new alliances position the UNCF and FDPRI to drive meaningful change and shape the future of educational opportunity, institutional resilience, and social equity
