Tawanna Streater brings nearly two decades of fundraising expertise to her role as Vice President of Development at UNCF, where she has served since July 2025. She leads the Midwest Division, overseeing fundraising strategy and development efforts across key markets including Chicago, Detroit, Indianapolis, Columbus, and Minneapolis.

Prior to joining UNCF, Streater was Director of Corporate Partnerships at Shedd Aquarium, where she led strategic planning, campaign fundraising, corporate sponsorships, budgeting, forecasting, and the cultivation of new partnership opportunities.

She previously served as Director of Development for Corporate and Foundation Relations at Rush University Medical Center, where she secured funding to support institutional programs and research in Community Engagement (including school-based health centers and youth enrichment), Neurosciences, and Rush University.

At the Chicago Urban League, Streater played a critical role in building and executing a comprehensive development strategy. She joined the organization in 2013 as a Development Officer, advanced to Senior Development Officer in 2014, and was promoted to Director of Development in 2016.

Earlier in her career, Streater was Manager of Corporate and Foundation Relations at Youth Guidance, where she cultivated key partnerships with the Chicago Bears, Bulls, and White Sox, and contributed to the team that secured the prestigious Bank of America Neighborhood Builder Award, not once but twice. She also held the role of Foundation Relations Officer at UCAN, managing major corporate and foundation relationships.

A proud Chicago native, Streater holds a Bachelor of Science in Public Relations from Illinois State University and a Master of Arts in Entertainment and Media Management from Columbia College Chicago. She lives in the southwest suburbs of Chicago with her son and three dogs.
