Dr. Donald Comer Named 11th President of Lane College
Dr. Donald Comer has officially been named the 11th president of Lane College, a UNCF-member institution. Dr. Comer has served as interim president since 2024.

“I am honored by the Board’s confidence and grateful for the opportunity to continue serving Lane College in this capacity,” said Dr. Comer in a press release. “Over the past two years, we have built a strong foundation together. The work ahead remains focused, and our commitment to excellence will continue to guide every step forward.”
The decision was made by Lane College’s Board of Trustees, reflecting confidence in Dr. Comer’s leadership and his alignment with the College’s mission and future, which he has already shown through his time as interim president. Under Dr. Comer’s leadership, Lane College advanced key strategic initiatives across academic excellence, experiential learning, strategic enrollment management, financial vitality, community engagement and differential advantage.
Dr. Comer earned his Ph.D. from Jackson State University.
