Hall of Honor: UNCF Legacy Award Gala

The UNCF Legacy Award Gala is an evening of special recognition. The UNCF National Alumni Council honors alumni who have been selected by their respective UNCF alma maters to receive the UNCF-NAC Hall of Honor award. These individuals have made significant contributions to their alma maters, their professions and the community.

The Legacy Award
The Legacy Award honors an individual who has a long-standing record of encouraging students or colleagues to realize their full potential, and have helped others find ways to achieve their best. Qualified individuals are those rare professionals whose accomplishments have touched the lives of others and have helped to launch the careers of others toward new horizons, based on the accomplishments of the honoree. Previous Legacy Award honorees include Nikki Giovanni, Tom Joyner, Congressman John Lewis, Dr. Calvin Mackie, Roland Martin, Soledad O’Brien, Lou Rawls, Lionel Richie, Desiree Rogers, Carolyn House Stewart and Susan Taylor. The gala also include the UNCF Hall of Honor, which is bestowed upon individual alumni nominated by UNCF’s member schools.

Miss National UNCF Coronation

The climax of the annual leadership conference is the crowning of Miss National UNCF. Miss UNCF candidates are selected on the basis of funds raised at institutions they represent. Miss National UNCF is the representative of the institution that raises the largest amount of funds per capita in odd years and the largest amount raised regardless of per capita in even years. The evening of festivities includes a display of talent, awards and scholarship presentations.
