I am calling today to ask that you support H.R. 6893 / S. 1945, IGNITE HBCU Excellence Act. This proposal is because it allows HBCUs to repair, renovate and modernize their campus buildings and research facilities. This is an urgently needed bill that will improve the educational capacity for HBCUs, enhance students’ experiences on campus, and protect the safety, health and well-being of students and faculty. HBCUs cannot afford to go another year with deferred maintenance, dilapidated buildings, and infrastructure in disrepair. I support the IGNITE HBCU Excellence Act because it would be a critical step to bring HBCU buildings and research facilities up to date and provide the dynamic, talented and deserving students they serve a fully fair and equitable educational experience—which invigorates our local communities, states and our national economy. I encourage you to support and pass the IGNITE HBCU Excellence Act.
