Carl Washington
Carl Washington is the Area Development Director for the Chicago, IL market.
Before joining UNCF, Mr. Washington built a 20+ year career in the entertainment industry. Upon graduation from Clark College (today’s Clark-Atlanta University) he rose in sales and marketing for General Foods Corporation, in the Dallas, White Plains and Chicago markets. Volunteering at music venues in the Chicago area connected him with a career in marketing with Capitol Records. Working on campaigns for Paul McCartney, NWA, Garth Brooks, MC Hammer, Heart and Bonnie Raitt. Each project sold platinum (over 1 million copies). Carl was involved in their first Corporate Sponsorship and Touring Support Development team, with campaign’s included Ford Trucks, Kingsford Charcoal, Chrysler Credit, VISA, Bank of America and Proctor & Gamble.
Soon, he moved to the A&M Records to head the Midwest Promotion and Marketing teams for platinum recording artists Janet Jackson, Sting, Barry White and record producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis’s Perspective Records label. Productive stints followed at RCA Records, and with Russell Simmons at his RUSH Communications and Label Group. Since 2009, he has helmed a successful Sponsorship Consulting group for several music festivals and large-scale events based in Chicago, Detroit and Atlanta.
Carl is a native of Chicago, married to wife Sharon who share a blended family of 7 children and 5 grandchildren. Also, Carl serves as a community board member at the Mt. Sinai Hospital of Chicago, Hillcrest Baptist Church and Africa International House.
