Dana Brown

Dana Brown is Area Development Director (ADD) for UNCF (United Negro College Fund) Virginia. She is responsible for establishing short and long-range fundraising goals and conducting comprehensive, cost-effective annual fundraising campaigns within her area of operation to support the 37 UNCF member institutions as well as supporting area students through scholarships. As ADD, Dana serves as an ambassador for UNCF and is responsible for engaging donors and leveraging key relationships across Virginia to ensure revenue goals are met.Dana is a Richmond, Virginia native, having attended Richmond Public Schools. In addition, she is a proud Ram, having received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communications from Virginia Commonwealth University, minoring in African American Studies.

With over 10 years of non-profit development and special event experience, Ms. Brown possesses an extensive knowledge of fundraising strategies and principles. Previous employment includes promoting cultural and historical literacy throughout the commonwealth at the Library of Virginia Foundation (6 years) and, immediately prior to joining UNCF, as Development Manager and Director for the National Kidney Foundation (five years). Dana was a lifeline for all people affected by kidney disease. Dana is actively involved in her community, serving as a member of the Virginia Association of Fundraising Executives (VAFRE), Urban League of Greater Richmond Young Professionals, Young Nonprofit Professionals Network (YNPN) RVA and the VCU African American Alumni Council. She has a passion for supporting children and youth organizations, helping to empower and equip young people to serve as positive contributors to their families and communities.
