Rosalind McGinnis
A long-term advocate for the education and empowerment of youth, Rosalind D. McGinnis was recently hired as the UNCF Area Development Director, with responsibilities for South Carolina and Tennessee, as well as Macon and Savannah, GA. In this role, McGinnis continues her passion for ensuring that all students have knowledge about how to achieve, and access to, a high quality education.
McGinnis began her career as the manager of legislative affairs for the domestic car manufacturers’ national trade association in Detroit, MI. During her career, Rosalind has held numerous leadership positions in higher education and the nonprofit sector, including serving as a senior governmental affairs officer at Wayne State University; the executive director of a statewide educational association in Michigan; director of governmental affairs and grants administration at Calhoun Community College in Huntsville, AL; associate vice president at the CDC Foundation; and, most recently special assistant to the CEO at The King Center. In each of these positions, one of Rosalind’s primary responsibility was to secure monies needed to help support the institution’s programs and mission.
McGinnis has worked on numerous fundraising campaigns, and raised millions of dollars, including $3.5 million in operating funds for Wayne State University, $75 million capital campaign at Calhoun Community College and a variety of other fundraising initiatives. She views her greatest strengths to be her ability to build high-performing teams, forge partnerships and capitalize on opportunities.
McGinnis earned her bachelor’s degree in economics and a master’s degree in business administration in management from Wayne State University in Detroit. She completed the requisite course work for a doctorate in education in organizational leadership, with a specialty in nonprofit management from Nova Southeastern University and is ABD.
McGinnis works to make an impact in her community and on the world one individual at a time. Through faith, perseverance, hard-work and commitment, she believes everyone has the ability fulfill their goals and achieve their dreams.
She is the proud wife of Danny McGinnis and the mother of two sons, Dale and Jabari.
