Tanya Sweeney
Tanya Sweeney joined the HQ Development Team as Area Development Director in February, 2020. In this role, Tanya and her team work to raise funds in DC, Maryland and northern Virginia, in support of UNCF’s mission. She brings a wealth of knowledge and leadership in her 35 years of experience driving sales and fundraising strategies to increase and diversify the revenue stream for various organizations including AT&T, United Way, The Epilepsy Foundation and Friendship Place, a homeless services provider in northwest DC. Prior to joining UNCF, Tanya was the Executive Director of Development for Washington Adventist University in Takoma Park, MD.
A current CFRE (Certified Fundraising Executive), Tanya earned her BS in Chemical Engineering from Tufts University, MBA from University of Wisconsin – Madison, and holds a certificate in Executive Management from Northwestern University.
She lives in Washington, DC and is a board member of the Emmanuel-Brinklow SDA Church.
