UNCF: A Vision Worth Investing In
A TRACK RECORD OF STUDENT OUTCOMES
Deciding to invest in UNCF isn’t a leap of faith. Recipients of our scholarship awards consistently reward their investors with results—social returns.
- UNCF African American freshman scholarship recipients have a 70-percent six-year graduation rate, 11 percentage points higher than the national average for students of all races, and 30 percentage points higher than the national average for all African Americans.
- With a $5,000 UNCF scholarship given to an African American freshman, his/her likelihood of graduating increases by nearly eight percentage points.
- Ninety-four percent of African American freshmen who received a UNCF scholarship in 2006 returned for their sophomore year. In comparison, the national rate for students of all races is 78 percent.
THE UNCF PROMISE
When you give to UNCF, you’re investing in the 60,000 students UNCF helps attend college each year and graduate with tools and skills they need for their success, and that we need them to have for our nation’s progress.
The educational and cultural outcomes point to a multi-generational impact felt throughout the recipient’s life and in the lives of their children and descendants. UNCF scholarships not only help to change one life, but they “pay it forward” by impacting the lives of generations yet to come.
A TRADITION OF SOCIAL CHANGE
After more than 75 years, UNCF has evolved into the largest private scholarship provider to minority group members in the country. UNCF currently awards more than $100 million a year in scholarships to more than 10,000 students at more than 1,100 schools across the country, including our prestigious network of 37 member HBCUs.
UNCF’S FINANCIAL STEWARDSHIP
Since its founding in 1944, UNCF has raised more than $5 billion. Your investment helps sustain and feed this incredible fund-raising momentum.
