Budget University Founder Partners with Chime to Bring Financial Education to HBCUs

The founder and CEO of Budget University and an alumna of Kentucky State University, Shelby Price, has launched a partnership with Chime to help historically Black college and university (HBCU) students—who are making their first major money decisions—gain vital financial education and build financial stability.

Budget University, an accredited ed tech, AI-integrated software company, provides practical financial literacy education for young people and families. Chime, a financial technology company, offers fee-free checking and savings accounts and credit-building tools through banking partners, The Bancorp Bank, N.A. and Stride Bank, N.A. Chime’s digital banking services are available on a mobile app and include early direct deposit and automated savings.

Through the initiative, Chime and Budget University will bring financial literacy workshops to college campuses nationwide, sharing real-life advice and making money conversations more approachable and culturally-grounded.

Earlier this month, Price held a workshop for student athletes at UNCF-member institution Tuskegee University. She introduced them to Chime and Budget University and discussed money management, building credit and long-term financial confidence.

“This partnership advances Chime’s commitment to bring financial education to 10 million people, and Budget University is proud to help drive that impact,” Price said.
