UNCF K-12 Education Fellowship Selection Process and Timeline

What happens after you submit your application?

Each year, UNCF accepts applications from hopeful HBCU students who wish to be selected as a Fellow in the next cohort. Read below for an overview of the Fellow selection process.

Submit your application by January 28, 2022.

Phase 1: Online application submission – November 1, 2021 – January 28, 2022, 11:59 p.m. ET.

  • The selection committee must receive your letter of recommendation by February 4, 2022. Letters of recommendation can either be submitted through the application portal or sent via email to: k12fellow@uncf.org.

Phase 2: One-way video submission

  • Select applicants will advance to the semi-finalist round. Notifications will be sent to all semi-finalists by February 11, 2022.
  • Semi-finalists must complete and submit a one-way video interview by March 7, 2022, at 5:00 p.m. ET.

Phase 3: Host Partner Organization & Fellow Matching

  • Select applicants will advance to the finalist round. Notifications will be sent to all finalists by March 31, 2022.
  • Finalists’ and Host Partners will meet virtually to engage in the final screening process – April 2022.
  • Finalists’ will be matched with a host organization to fulfill their 10-week summer experience, based on organizational fit and the student’s specific area(s) of interest in the education sector.
