12th Annual UNCF Mayor’s Masked Ball
The UNCF Charlotte Mayor’s Masked Ball, held in March 2026, was one of Charlotte’s premier fundraising galas, bringing together community leaders, corporate partners, and philanthropists for an unforgettable evening in support of educational opportunity. The event celebrated UNCF’s enduring mission to invest in the next generation of scholars by raising critical funds that help students access, afford, and graduate from college.
2nd Annual UNCF Triad “A Mind Is…” Reception
The UNCF Triad Reception, held in February 2026, was a night of celebration, inspiration, and giving. Guests enjoyed live entertainment, heartfelt student testimonials, and stunning décor that set the tone for an unforgettable evening. Together, supporters raised funds that directly empowered the next generation of HBCU scholars.
23rd Annual UNCF Maya Angelou Women Who Lead Luncheon
The UNCF Charlotte Maya Angelou Women Who Lead Luncheon celebrated the excellence and leadership of distinguished women who are paving the way for the next generation. This year’s event featured Sheila Johnson as a special guest, whose words inspired and empowered attendees to continue advancing educational equity. The honorees, Shelly Cayette-Weston, Kristy Fercho, and Kristi Coleman were recognized for their outstanding contributions to their communities and commitment to change.

The UNCF Charlotte Mayor’s Masked Ball, held on March 2025, was one of Charlotte’s most anticipated fundraising galas, with special guest Charlie Wilson. This elegant evening brought together community leaders, corporations, and philanthropists in support of educational access for minority students. The event highlighted UNCF’s ongoing commitment to empowering the next generation of scholars.
2nd Annual UNCF Walk for Education
“UNCF Charlotte annual Walk for Education brought the community together for a day of purpose, unity, and fun! All in support of students pursuing higher education. Attendees enjoyed family-friendly activities, music, and inspiration as they walked to raise awareness and funds for scholarships. 17th Annual Maya Angelou Women Who Lead Luncheon Raises Record-Breaking $2.3 Million – September 2019
Celebrating 75 years of service to the nation, more than 1,000 guests adorned with fascinators and hats attended UNCF’s (United Negro College Fund) sold-out 17th annual Maya Angelou Women Who Lead Luncheon Sept. 28 in Charlotte, raising a record-breaking $2,300,000 in support of education. Global media leader, producer, actress and philanthropist Oprah Winfrey headlined the signature fundraising event presented by Wells Fargo and bestowed an unrivaled moment by matching live fundraising efforts to donate $1,149,000 million. >>Read More
