Dr. Lomax Honors Morehouse College’s 13th President at Investiture Ceremony
Dr. Michael L. Lomax, president and CEO, UNCF, honored Morehouse College’s 13th president, Dr. F. DuBois Bowman, at his inauguration ceremony, during the 159th Founder’s Day Celebration on Feb. 12, 2026. Dr. Lomax was invited to provide a tribute to the new president during the ceremony. He touted Dr. Bowman’s leadership history and spoke about the impact of UNCF.
President Bowman is a 1992 magna cum laude and Phi Betta Kappa graduate of Morehouse, a UNCF-member institution. Previously, Dr. Bowman served as the 12th dean of University of Michigan’s School of Public Health from October 2018 to July 2025. He earned his bachelor’s degree in mathematics at Morehouse, his master’s degree in biostatistics at the University of Michigan and his doctorate degree in biostatistics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Before the University of Michigan, President Bowman also held senior academic leadership roles at Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health, served as chair of the Department of Biostatistics and was a tenured professor at and the founding director of the Center for Biomedical Imaging Statistics at Emory University.
Dr. Lomax is also an alumnus of Morehouse, which made addressing the college’s current and former students, faculty and staff an extra special moment for him.
