About the Target Scholars Program

Target, in partnership with UNCF, has established the Target Scholars Program to provide 1,000 need-based scholarships of $5,000 to first-year Black students enrolled at select historically Black colleges or universities (HBCUs) with a demonstrated interest in pursuing a degree in technology, leadership or design. This program will provide students with four years of academic support as well as mentoring, internship opportunities, networking and more throughout their college career—and is just one way that Target is supporting the next generation of Black talent, helping build the workforce for the future.

Program Benefits

  • Financial Assistance: Making higher education more affordable by providing $5,000 scholarships for 1,000 first-year students at more than a dozen HBCUs
  • College Success Coach: Providing a College Success Coach will allow for regular engagement and communication aimed at supporting the student’s academic progress and professional development
  • Professional Development and Internships: Training and preparing students for early career success through mentoring, internships, and networking opportunities
