UNCF Toyota Scholars: FAQs

What does the UNCF Toyota Scholars Scholarship cover?
The UNCF Toyota Scholars scholarship pays towards all eligible items in a student’s cost of attendance, including: tuition and fees, room and meals, books and supplies, travel and other eligible costs.
Should I complete both Phase I and Phase II applications?
We recommend that you apply to both Phase I and Phase II as both applicant pools will be reviewed and ranked independently. If selected for a scholarship in Phase I, you will automatically be part of the applicant pool in Phase II.
If I accept the invitation to become a UNCF Toyota Scholar after not being selected in Phase I or Phase II, will there be other opportunities to compete for a scholarship?
At each “Toyota Day” Summit, we will randomly award $2,500 scholarships to two participating scholars and the top 3 teams (up to 4 scholars on each team) who compete in the Case Competition will win scholarships of $5,000 (1st place), $2,500 (2nd place) and $1,000 (3rd place).
What are the participation expectations of a UNCF Toyota Scholar?
A UNCF Toyota Scholar must:
- Participate in the “Toyota Day” Summit held once each semester
- Consider participating in the Case Competition (mandatory for all Toyota interns)
- Share about their experience as a UNCF Toyota Scholar on social media #UNCFToyotaScholar
What is the application process and selection timeline?
As part of the application, students are required to complete a one-page personal statement about their career interests and goals that addresses their interest in the Program and/or Toyota.
