“I grew up in the Parkside Housing Project in Detroit, MI. My mother was a nurse who worked nights, leaving me alone.
“With her encouragement, I did well in school and learned the focus and determination which has served me all my life. I eventually won an NROTC scholarship and served during the Korean War. After the military, I went to medical school at George Washington University.
“My way of giving back is to help UNCF students who only have their determination to achieve their dreams.”
