This Chemistry-Pharmacy Double Major Chose Xavier University of Louisiana, A Top HBCU Producer of Doctors

Aniya Diggs, a recent graduate of Xavier University of Louisiana (XULA), a UNCF-member institution, received the Foot Locker Foundation Scholarship from UNCF for the 2023-2024 school year. “The Foot Locker Foundation Scholarship from UNCF has supported my growth as a public speaker, provided me with networking opportunities and alleviated the burden of paying for graduate school tuition,” Diggs shared.
While at XULA, Diggs was a chemistry dual-degree pharmacy student. She graduated cum laude in May 2024, with a bachelor’s of science in chemistry. She is a second-year pharmacy student, with plans to obtain a doctorate degree in pharmacy in 2027. “After graduation, I aspire to gain an industry fellowship with a major pharmaceutical company to study drug development and research,” Diggs said.
Diggs was drawn to XULA for its high ranking and reputation. “Being one of the top HBCU producers of Black doctors solidified my decision to attend,” she said.
Diggs is also a proud member of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. “This sisterhood has not only brought me invaluable bonds and experiences but has also prepared me to serve my community and uphold the ideals of scholarship and social action,” she said.
Last year, Diggs was invited to be a guest at the 2024 On Our Feet Gala in New York City, NY, sponsored by Foot Locker Foundation, which helps to raise funds for the Foot Locker Foundation-UNCF Scholarship Program. “I truly appreciate the experience I was granted to attend the 2024 Gala,” she said.
“Being selected as a Foot Locker Foundation Scholar was life-changing for me,” Diggs shared.
UNCF is proud of our students and alumni who have received scholarships that help them continue their education and graduate. These scholarships are invaluable to students, and UNCF is accepting donations to support students like Aniya Diggs in their academic endeavors.
