UNCF expresses condolences at the passing of the legendary Harry Belafonte
UNCF joins the nation in mourning the passing of singer, film and stage actor, and indispensable civil rights activist, Harry Belafonte.
Belafonte was among the featured celebrity performers on the Ninth Annual Lou Rawls Parade of Stars telethon in 1988, which raised more than $9.4 million in pledges for UNCF.
Belafonte will always be remembered for his courage and passion to end racial injustice as a key strategist, fundraiser and mediator for the civil rights movement.
There will never be another Harry Belafonte. The nation has lost a true patriot and champion for humanity.
UNCF extends its deepest condolences to the Belafonte family.
