Jarvis Christian University is a historically black liberal arts, baccalaureate degree-granting institution affiliated with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).
The mission of the university is to prepare students intellectually, through academic programs that promote excellence in teaching and learning; socially, through student-centered support programs that encourage positive and constructive communication among peers, faculty, and staff; spiritually, through programs that stimulate spiritual growth and worship; and personally, through interaction that fosters self-development and maturity. The mission further seeks to prepare students for professional and graduate studies, productive careers and to function effectively in a global and technological society.

Jarvis Christian University Welcomes New Students with Orientation and Move-In Day
As new students arrived on campus to begin their Jarvis Christian University journey, members of the Jarvis Christian University National Alumni Association Denton Collin County Chapter (JCC DCC) were already hard at work ensuring each student received a warm Bulldog welcome.
Volunteering throughout New Student Move-In Day, chapter members demonstrated the spirit of service that has long defined Jarvis alumni. From unloading vehicles and carrying boxes into residence halls to distributing essential move-in supplies and serving cold bottled water during the Texas summer heat, the chapter played a vital role in helping students and their families transition to campus. >>Read More
New Dean of Student & Director of Residence Life
Jarvis Christian University is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. MiSchelle A. Edwards as the University’s new Dean of Students and Director of Residence Life. A seasoned higher education leader, Dr. Edwards brings extensive experience in student affairs, strategic enrollment management, residence life and housing, student success, and institutional advancement.
Throughout her career, Dr. Edwards has served students at public, private, and Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), developing innovative programs that strengthen enrollment, improve student retention, and foster a vibrant campus community. Jarvis Christian University has released its 2025–2026 Annual Impact Report, showcasing a year of measurable progress in fundraising, grant development, alumni engagement, and strategic institutional advancement. The report highlights how the collective generosity of alumni, donors, foundations, churches, corporations, and friends continues to strengthen the university’s mission of educating the head, heart, and hand while expanding opportunities for current and future students.
