Talladega College Announces Record-Setting Enrollment Increase
There is a magnificent transformation underway at Talladega College.
Talladega College [a UNCF-member institution] is pleased to announce a record-setting enrollment increase for the 2018-2019 academic year. Enrollment has increased from 782 students during the 2017-2018 academic year to 1,217 students during the 2018-2019 academic year. This is a 55.5 percent increase.
“There is a magnificent transformation underway at Talladega College. A new residence hall, a student center, and the Dr. William R. Harvey Museum of Art are currently under construction. In addition, substantial renovations are taking place campus-wide. While academic excellence is our primary focus, the beautification of our campus has undoubtedly helped us to attract many new students,” said Talladega College President Dr. Billy C. Hawkins. “We are providing academic excellence in a beautiful setting.”
U.S. News and World Report listed Talladega College among the best regional colleges and the best Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) in its report released on September 10, 2018. The Princeton Review named Talladega College among the best colleges in the Southeast in the recently released 2019 edition of its annual college guide, The Best 384 Colleges.
Talladega College’s new state-of-the-art residence hall is scheduled to open in November, 2018. The Dr. William R. Harvey Museum of Art, which will house the critically-acclaimed Hale Woodruff Amistad Murals and other works of art, will open in spring 2019, and Talladega’s first-ever student center will open in summer 2019.
