Did you know?

  • The students UNCF traditionally serves are from low- to moderate-income families and are often the first in their family to attend college.  More than 50 percent of our scholars come from families with incomes under $30,000 per year.
  • Prince George’s County, MD, is the site of the first Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Celebration Breakfast hosted by UNCF—a celebration started in 1983, well before the holiday was nationally recognized.
  • Northern Virginia boasts some of our strongest supporters from the faith community, led by Alfred Street Baptist Church in Alexandria.

UNCF (United Negro College Fund) is thrilled to announce the monumental success of its national 80th Anniversary “A Mind Is…”® Gala which raised $2.2 million in support of its mission to provide access to higher educational opportunities for underrepresented students to go to and through college and to achieve a better future for our nation.

The gala, held on March 7 in Washington, DC, celebrated the achievements of UNCF and honored exceptional philanthropists and corporate industry leaders, and kicked off the year’s 80th anniversary celebrations. >>Read More
