UNCF National Interfaith and Education Initiative

Since 1944, UNCF and the interfaith community have invested in each other. Churches and other places of worship around the country have helped historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) keep their doors open and their dedication to education strong. And UNCF has reached out around the country to raise the funds their students need to become the next generation of ministers and church-supporting congregants.

The UNCF National Interfaith and Education Advisory Council is made up of several faith and church leaders from across the nation and many different denominations. To learn more about why the council members support UNCF, watch the videos on this page.

UNCF Day of Worship

Support the National Interfaith and Education Initiative by setting aside a day of worship or a special UNCF Day of Worship, and ask members to donate and support the students we serve by supporting UNCF.
Without churches, UNCF likely wouldn’t exist. Collectively, they planted the seed that grew the tree from which we sprang. The interfaith community has played a critical role in the founding of many of our HBCUs—and thus UNCF—and over the decades, has provided vital funds that have helped to sustain our schools.

YOUR SUPPORT CAN MAKE THE DIFFERENCE

TO A UNCF STUDENT:

  • 60% of our students come from families with incomes under $30,000.
  • More than 50% of the students at UNCF colleges and universities are the first in their families to attend college.
  • 92% of UNCF students need financial aid.

TO ONE OF UNCF’s 37 MEMBER INSTITUTIONS:

  • Offer academic programs students must have to prepare for lives of success and service.
  • Keep tuition affordable.
  • Offer their students “last-dollar” scholarships they need to stay in school and graduate.
