About The Walt Disney Company / UNCF Enhanced Corporate Scholars Program
The Walt Disney Company / UNCF Enhanced Corporate Scholars Program is an excellent opportunity for talented, high-achieving African American college students seeking to enter the entertainment industry. The program was created to help develop and cultivate a pipeline of African American talent poised to assume fulfilling early-career opportunities within the media and entertainment industry, specifically with companies like Disney. In addition to providing internship opportunities, the program also provides professional development and scholarship support during students’ academic journeys.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Historically underrepresented African American rising juniors, enrolled full-time at a four-year college or university.
- Preference will be given to students attending Historically Black Colleges or Universities (HBCUs).
- Demonstrated unmet, financial need as verified by student’s college or university of enrollment.
- Submission of an online application describing extracurricular activities, honors, and awards.
- Submission of a 500-word essay demonstrating an interest in pursuing a career in the entertainment industry (e.g., film, television, hospitality management, journalism, media production, digital media, etc.)
In addition to The Walt Disney Company / UNCF Enhanced Corporate Scholars Program, The Walt Disney Company also provides three specialty programs that encompasses opportunities for students interested in going into the Sports Entertainment, Film and factual storytelling industries.
Andscape Rhoden Fellows
Rhoden Fellows is a training program for the next generation of sports journalists from HBCUs, founded and headed by Andscape editor-at-large and former New York Times award-winning columnist, William C. Rhoden. The year-long fellowship aims to develop new voices and serve as an incubator for future multicultural journalists.
FX Storytelling Legacy Scholarship
The FX Storytelling Legacy Scholarship honors the legacy of acclaimed director and producer, John Singleton, through endowed scholarships in his name that will encourage and empower the next generation of Black artists following in his footsteps.
National Geographic Content Scholarship
The National Geographic Content Scholarship offers scholars real-world experience to help gain access and exposure to the factual entertainment industry. In addition to scholarships, students participate in a multi-day immersive experience on the National Geographic campus in Washington, D.C., and are part of a six-month mentorship program with a National Geographic executive.
