National Geographic Content Scholarship Program

The National Geographic Content Scholarship serves as a real-world experience to help guide, expose, and grant access into the factual entertainment industry. Our mission is to help future storytellers who have a passion for telling stories across all content platforms gain opportunities and build relationships that will heighten their perspectives about the industry. Each recipient receives a financial tuition award, a spot in the immersive program at the National Geographic campus in Washington, DC, and a six-month mentorship with a National Geographic executive.

Program description

  • One-week immersion program
  • Six month mentorship
  • Professional development through The Walt Disney Company / UNCF Enhanced Corporate Scholars Program
  • One-time $5,000 award, eligible for renewal during senior year

Candidate requirements

  • Open to both rising juniors and rising seniors
  • Majoring in media/communications or interested in creative storytelling
  • Interested in creating gripping, factual stories
  • Passionate about the planet and interested in working in a collaborative and inclusive environment
  • No minimum GPA required
  • Must be enrolled in/attending one of the following schools:
    • Johnson C. Smith University
    • Delaware State University
    • Norfolk State University
    • Howard University
    • Fort Valley State University
    • Morgan State University
