The Returning to Our Roots Gospel Brunch celebrates churches, pastors, and their congregations that have a tradition of supporting UNCF, its member historically Black colleges and universities, and students.

The UNCF New York Faith & Education Initiative Committee invites you to feed your body and soul as we join in fellowship to recognize faith leaders and community advocates who have shown their support for UNCF’s mission, expressed through our motto, “A mind is a terrible thing to waste, but a wonderful thing to invest in.” ®.

We welcome you to attend and support in fellowship with the community, while enjoying brunch, complimentary mimosas, musical performances and powerful speakers. Funds raised will support UNCF’s member schools and its important work to advance educational and career opportunities for students of color.

UNCF seeks your support for the 2023 DMV (DC, MD and Northern VA) Leaders’ Breakfast in helping to advance UNCF’s mission: To build a robust and nationally recognized pipeline of underrepresented students, who, because of UNCF support, become highly qualified college graduates and to ensure that our network of member institutions is a respected model of best practices in moving students to and through college. UNCF member colleges graduate more of their African American students than other private colleges or public universities, and their low tuition rates are less than half those charged by other private colleges.

Because college graduates earn higher incomes than non-graduates, your support will be an investment in the future teachers, business leaders, engineers, physicians and other professionals who will graduate from UNCF member colleges to become productive participants in their communities and in the U.S. economy

The UNCF “A Mind Is…”® Gala is a signature fundraiser for the local UNCF office and is considered a premier social event for the City of Houston. Supported by a diverse group of corporate sponsors and individuals, the Gala welcomes celebrities, dignitaries, civic leaders, volunteers, public officials, alumni and others who support UNCF’s mission of investing in America’s future by getting students to and through college.

CONFERENCE AWARDS

These prestigious alumni awards recognize individuals who have made significant contributions to their alma mater, their community and/or UNCF. Each school submits the name of one alumnus for the Hall of Honor (Outstanding Alumni Award) and one alumnus for the Outstanding Young Alumni Award.

These awards will be presented during UNCF NAC Legacy Gala, Friday, February 23, 2024 at 7:30 p.m. in the Grand Ballroom at the Hyatt Regency Jacksonville-Riverfront.
