UNCF’s 4th Annual Gala Noir is a celebration with purpose—raising critical funds to support students and member institutions across the DMV. Anchored by The Torch Awards, the evening honors visionary leaders who are shaping culture, driving innovation, and creating lasting impact in education, business, advocacy, and the arts.

With a live DJ, curated hors d’oeuvres, and more, Gala Noir is more than a party – it’s where community, culture, and cause converge. Join 300+ supporters and change makers from across the DMV for a night to remember—and a mission that matters.

The UNCF Detroit Walk for Education is a broad-based community fundraising event in which you can recruit family members, friends, co-workers, neighbors, etc. to participate in this non-competitive Walk to raise much needed unrestricted funds for UNCF as well as provide necessary support for our students and schools and raise awareness about our 37 member institutions and HBCUs.

The only competition is for the top fundraising Team Captain Prizes, which goes to the team captains based upon the amount of funds raised first in each category.

Join us on at Belle Isle State Park (near the Casino) to help us reach our fundraising goal of $600,000 and help kids get to and successfully through college.

We will work our bodies with a 5K (3.1 mile) walk around beautiful Belle Isle and refresh our spirit with family, friends, fellowship and good food on a beautiful summer day.

For over 82 years, UNCF has been committed to providing scholarships, internships, fellowships, and other vital resources to help students attend and graduate from college, particularly those attending historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs). We invite you to join us on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at the Charlotte Convention Center for the 23rd Annual Maya Angelou Women Who Lead Luncheon (MAWWLL). This signature fundraising event for UNCF is named in honor of our beloved friend and volunteer, Dr. Maya Angelou.

The day begins at 10 a.m. with shopping, mimosas, live music, and red carpet photos, leading into an elegant 12 p.m. luncheon featuring an inspiring program, the prestigious Maya Angelou Women Who Lead Award presentation, and the exciting Hatitude! competition. During the luncheon, we will celebrate and honor extraordinary women who have made a significant impact locally, statewide, and nationally.

UNCF New York’s annual Walk for Education is a chance for companies, groups, and individuals to support historically Black colleges & universities (HBCUs) and help uplift more young people towards achieving degree completion. This fall, thousands of freshmen will attend HBCUs with a goal of achieving degree completion.

Unfortunately, only one out of every three freshmen entering school in August will graduate college. The top three obstacles facing these students will be financial, academic, and personal challenges. By supporting UNCF’s Walk for Education, you can help more of our talented students at HBCUs receive the funding and essential support to obtain their college degree.

We suggest that corporations, groups, and individuals form teams of four to five members with a goal of raising a minimum of $1,000 per team. Teams can choose their own walking route on Wednesday, September 17th with the objective of arriving for a celebratory reception from 5:30 to 7:30 PM at City Winery located at 25 11th Avenue (15th Street), Pier 57 at Hudson Park, New York, NY 10011.
